Our Story

Greetings!

We are a married couple who runs a small family farm in northwest Illinois. Our farm has been in the family for three generations, and we have been raising Hereford beef cattle for over 15 years. Karl is a third-generation farmer, while Tara has experience with horses and a passion for animals, which led her to take on cattle breeding and feeding.

Our cattle are bred and born on our farm, which we hand-raise all year round, regardless of the weather conditions. Our cattle are pasture-raised and can access fresh, high-quality hay during the winter. To enhance their marbling and flavor, we feed them the corn we plant, grow, and grind on our farm. Additionally, we provide them with extra feed during harsh winters when they need it the most. After all, who would want to live on salad during the winter?

Thank you for choosing our farm and supporting our mission to raise our cattle naturally, with care and attention to their wellbeing. Our cattle are fed high-quality grass and feed, given access to fresh water, and, most importantly, are never given antibiotics or additional growth hormones. We take pride in providing healthy and delicious beef for your family while ensuring our cattle are treated with respect and care.

Thank you for your interest in our farm and our passion for raising healthy and delicious beef.

Karl & Tara Hagemann

People ask what I do to my burgers and casseroles to make them taste so good. It’s the Hagemann beef...it just has so much flavor. Obviously, the steaks and roasts are fantastic, but it always impresses me that I notice such a difference in the quality of the ground beef.
